An important message for the installers of the beta Trial 0.7.2 web and 0.7.3 CD from Kinetic Books.

A problem has been identified with the uninstall function of the Kinetic Books beta Trial version 0.7.2 web and 0.7.3 CD. This problem will occur ONLY under the following circumstances:

1. The installation occurred on a Windows computer. (This issue does NOT occur on the Macintosh.) AND
2. When the product was installed, the person installing changed the default install directory from C:\Program Files\Kinetic Books\physics to a different directory which already contained files. (For example, C:\ or C:\My Documents or the Desktop would be problematic. C:\Physics would be fine as long as the directory ‘Physics’ didn’t exist previously or there were no files in the ‘Physics’ directory before the installation.)

Under the circumstances listed above, running the uninstaller may remove additional files from the computer that should not be removed.

Version 0.7.2 web is the version that is available on our website (note: this problem does not exist with the CD version of 0.7.2). Version 0.7.3 CD was distributed on CD and through trial requests on our website. You can check the version that you have installed by scrolling to the bottom of any Kinetic Books Physics page.

Note: If either of the conditions 1 or 2 above are not true, there will not be a problem using the Kinetic Books uninstall program. Please continue using the product without worry.

Remedy: If the Kinetic Books products were installed on a Windows computer in a directory other that the default install directory and that directory previously contained computer files, please do not run the uninstaller. If you wish to remove the products, please select the files and folders installed by version 0.7.2-0.7.3 and drag them to the trash.

We are also providing a new uninstaller for you to replace the old uninstaller and ensure that you can continue using the product safely without someone accidentally running the old uninstaller.

This new uninstaller will also be included in the 1.0 versions of the Kinetic Books products which will be shipping shortly.
