Purchasing Information

Kinetic Books offers four packaging and pricing models for our products, as described below, to allow schools and individuals to purchase the products in ways similar to both traditional textbooks and digitally distributed products.

Products are delivered on a Mac/Windows CD or through online installation. Both options allow installation on Windows or Apple computers with a single purchase.

Product configurations

Web Access

The Web Access pricing model allows students to access the textbook and/or labs over the Internet. No CD is required (or supplied). It is valid for one calendar year from the date of purchase. The access is limited to a single student (students must supply a name and password). Login information will be provided via email 2-3 hours after purchase online.

Individual Purchase

The Individual Purchase pricing model allows students or institutions to purchase a single copy of the textbook or of the set of virtual labs to be installed on a single computer. The products do not time out.

This product is not transferable - it cannot be resold or returned to the school for use by another student another year. See the Class Set pricing model if your school purchases products that are loaned to students during the school year.

Class Set

The Class Set pricing model allows an institution to purchase textbooks or virtual labs that are loaned to students during a school year. The products may be loaned to a new group of students the following year. The institution may continue lending out the textbook and labs for as many years as it sees fit. (Prices listed are per copy. Please order one copy for each student.)

School Computer Lab

With the School Computer Lab pricing model, institutions can purchase a CD that allows the textbook or the labs to be installed onto 35 school-owned, on-site computers. This is designed to give schools, colleges and universities the ability to provide students with on-site access to these products.

The product(s) may be installed on any 35 school-owned, on-site computers. Additional CDs must be purchased for installation on multiples of 35 computers. There is no limit to the number of students who use these computers.

Printed textbooks may be purchased at $20.00 per copy with a Computer Lab License. Limit of 35 per Computer Lab License purchased.

With a purchase of a School Computer Lab license of one of our textbooks, your students can download the product in PDF format, the file format that is used by the free Adobe Reader program. This means they have access to all the text and pictures, but will need to use the computer-based version to take advantage of the interactive elements, such as simulations and interactive checkpoints. Students can print out the textbook, and the pages have been reformatted to make printing more efficient. You can also print out copies of the textbook if you wish to lend hard copies to students.

Students who cannot afford the product

We have outside funding to supply up to 10,000 students with access to these products at no cost. The current model is that the students would get a free copy of the Web Access version of the product; they could access it at local libraries and other facilities with high-speed access. The funding would be available to a school as the same percentage of students at that school who qualified for federal programs such as free/reduced lunch. In other words, if 40% of the students qualified for such programs, then a school needing 100 copies of the product could pay for 60 licenses and get 40 free Web Access licenses. The outside funding source welcomes other proposals to address equity and access issues.

Online Homework

Online grading is available for all of our products. The required functionality is already built into the textbooks. Pricing for this feature is similar to the pricing for comparable products.

Additional Information:

Shipping, taxes and handling are not included in the prices listed above. Prices are for the United States for the current version of the products.

The products can be updated from our servers. The company will supply content and software updates to the current version of the products for one year. Users can reject the updates if they wish.

Return Policy

Book Stores: Product that has not been opened or "used" may be returned up to 3 months from purchase for a 3% restocking fee. Returns must include an RMA # (Return Materials Authorization number.) This can be obtained by submitting a written request (via email to ) which includes the key code(s) of the item(s) to be returned. The RMA will be issued only for key codes that have not been used. Customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

Schools: Product that has not been opened or "used" may be returned up to 3 months from purchase for a 3% restocking fee. Returns must include an RMA # (Return Materials Authorization number.) This can be obtained by submitting a written request (via email to ) which includes the key codes of the items to be returned. The RMA will be issued only for key codes that have not been used. Order Cancellation Policy

Please submit any order cancellation via email to , or by phone at 1-877-4KBOOKS. All requests must include the following information that was used when the order was placed: first name, last name, order number, email address and best method to contact you. We will make every effort to cancel your order if it has not already shipped. If it has shipped, please follow the Return Policy above which is appropriate for your situation.
